James and Bessie (my mama) met on Lover's Lane. No really, they worked at Britthaven of Washington NC were they met. Alot of people that worked often married someone that they met on Lover's Lane and Mama and James were statistics. He had such a deep voice that some people were intimidated by him. He really scared away the boys from me. LOL!!!! But inside, he was such a kind and caring person. James and Mama quickly fell in love and he moved in. He took the place of my father that wasn't always around. He treated me no different than he treated his biological kids. He was sent from God to us to make life a lot easier. My mother had been in a very bad relationship before James and it was just so good to see her happy. And that they both were happy. They were soul mates. James family welcomed us with open arms. We were very different but they always made me feel as if i was really family. I felt confortable and safe and they were never ashamed to call us family.
