James was such a hard worker. He worked at Britthaven for so many years that he was known by everyone as being a good, hard, strong worker. Mama and James both worked hard. They started noticing that James health was starting to get kinda fuzzy and he was getting kinda weak and tired. They finally went to the doctors and they diagnosed him with diabetes. It was a scary thought to think about all the things that could happen to him, but I didn't worry cuz he was a very strong willed person. He could fight it. I knew he could. He always assured me that he was ok, but some days i wasn't so sure. His health started to deteriate and he soon had to stop working. He didnt want to because he had worked all his life. By him getting sick, it put a lot of strain on mama becuz she now had to pay all the bills by herself and they were in so much debt that we had to give up alot of things that they both worked so hard for. We knew we were gonna have to move and in the process of moving, we found out that i was gonna have a baby. He made sure that I stayed healthy for the sake of my unborn baby. I remember he used to get up in the middle of the night and make me some hot broth to ease my stomach. He helped take such good care of me and he couldnt wait to see his grand daughter's face.
